OOOOOPS Lesson learnt !
Hi,
Just a quick apology to all who have tried leaving a comment on my blog over the past 24 hrs. Sorry I made a Boo Boo.
I was so excited yesterday to have created my first video as part of the Barry Wells’ challenge.
I posted it on youtube and added it to my blog, I was so proud of myself and then disaster struck – I received an email from Barry informing me of an error page that he received when trying to leave a comment. (Barrys’ really helpful like that)
The trouble is I’ve been moving at a hundred miles an hour over the past few weeks updating everything and my big mistake was not checking what I changed actually worked. DOH
Under normal circumstances my initial reaction would of been OMG an error page! AAAAAAARGH I don’t know anything about error pages what am I going to do? But not this time OH NO ! I was on such a high after completing the video a little thing like an error page wasn’t gonna get me down.
It then dawned on me that I really didn’t know where to start trying to solve the problem and yet I knew that I would be able to do it I just didn’t know how at that moment in time. So while I thought about it (and waited for my light bulb moment) I popped over to Facebook and left a comment about my predicament. No sooner had I done that I received another email advising me it may be my hosting that was causing the problem (I sent in a quick support ticket and then I flicked back to Facebook) and literally in the two minutes I’d been away the very lovely and very helpful Hilary Dickinson had left a comment ( That she’d be happy to take a look and see if she could locate the problem) and although I didn’t take up Hilarys’ offer (I was determined that I would sort this out myself) I was extremely grateful.
Anyway to cut a long story short and get to the point (IE lessons learnt) It turned out it wasn’t the hosting it was me (it took me 24hrs to sort it) but basically I had added a plugin to prevent spam comments, and boy did it work I never dreamed it would be that effective and stop everyone from commenting LOL – It’s gone now.
So lessons Learned:-
1) Always check and double check that any changes have the desired effect and work effectively.
2) There is nothing that you can’t do if you put your mind to it.
3) The world is full of wonderful people and I’m very fortunate to be a part of a community that really cares and no matter what life throws at me there is always someone who’s been there done that and is willing to show the way .
4) It feels really good to be grateful
So here is a big thank you to all you wonderful people (and you know who you are) from one very happy bunny.
With Love
Michelle xxx

Hey Michelle,
Yep you always gotta test everything you do, I am quite lucky I love testing, weird thing that I am lol.
Lovely to see you are a happy bunny, made me smile that did
It’s all one big learning curve when you are online, I still learn new stuff everyday and I still make mistakes myself, but if you learn from them and help others avoid the same mistake (like you did in this post) then it’s all good.
Catch ya later,

Hi Sally,
I’m going about 100 miles an hour at the minute and loving it, I’m a very happy bunny
Your so right about one big learning curve at one time I would of been really disheartend if that had of happened but thanks to you and the gang, I felt confident that the help was there if I needed it, which in turn gave me the confidence to tackle the problem myself – Hope that makes sense
C U Later

Hi Michelle
Mistakes are good and least now as Sally said you will stop someone else from making the same mistake..which is cool.
I had a similar problem with a plugin not so long ago and it messed my blog up for about 3 days and I didn’t know what the heck was up with it.
Sally came to the rescue and told me to check my plugins because sometimes they interfere with things…
So now if anything goes wrong with my blog and I’ve just installed a plugin – I hit the deactivate button and get rid.
Take care
Dawn
